Today I was digging up couch grass at The Farm. If you laid all the roots that I painstakingly removed end to end it would stretch to the moon and back. No exaggeration. On the plus side we picked the first apples of the season, the forecast doom and destruction didn’t arrive until the end of the day and we had quadruple chocolate biscuits (yes quadruple!). Just as the monsoon got going, and I was planning my escape, Mrs Duck waddled past with her new brood on the way to the pond. Looks like she is taking better care of this lot. Please forgive the quality of the picture, it might have been fine for ducks but it was dreadful weather for photographers!
Still the rain is welcome. I am getting sick of watering.

We have had lots of rain, on and off, over the last few weeks. Not much watering done this summer in the south west.

They say we are expecting an el nino this winter. We are now expected to be down 25% per day. It is a challenge believe me.

It sounds very challenging, I also have heard el nino is on his way, hope he bring you some rain 🙂

The rain didn’t materialise here in London so we are still watering!

Ugh, yes, thanks for that. Warm and fuggy here in London. Hopefully nicer by the coast 🙂

I abandoned the paintbrushes and worked outside all afternoon in fine drizzle until 7pm, the weather has certainly been hit or miss as to who got the downpours.

Very unnerving! Waterproofs off and on 🙂

I hope the couch grass roots were not being disentangled from claggy soil, a horrible job.

Not too claggy, but claddy enough!

Quadruple chocolate biscuits sounds like an excellent way to cope with any weather. 🙂

They certainly help!

Oh, they are sweet, the ducks, even if they are blurry. I know a group of geese is a gaggle, but what do you call a group of ducks? We were disappointed in the rain that fell here today: less than a millimeter, with forest fires still burning in parts of BC.

Well apparently when they are young they are known as a brood, when they get fledge they can be called a flock, a raft or even a paddling (which is my favourite).
