The much maligned lily stamen, replete with granules of rich ochre pollen. Often ceremoniously snipped before they can stain your best frock, drop onto the cream pile carpet or mar the Maltese terrier. This is a great pity, they are as beautiful as the exotic blooms they bless.
They are beautiful. I am so allergic to the pollen of the star gazer lily that even moving them into another part of the house is not enough. My granddaughter thought to give me an armload of blooms which we promptly placed on an outside table.

What a shame, if I lived next door you could always pass them over to me. Anything to be neighbourly!

Actually I divided them between two very nice ladies and wished them well.

Oh lovely lilies, but a no-no here as long as our little cat is around. Beautiful detail in your photo , have you got a new camera?

Just the one that replaced the one that fell in the pond, a little Canon IXUS.

Precisely! I adore lily stamens and find it difficult to properly appreciate double lilies though no doubt there are good times to use them!

Wonderful close up! I’ve been enjoying the fragrance of lilies and Buddleia in my garden: an intoxicating combination.
