Limnanthes douglasii, the poached egg plant. Much loved by hover flies and those of us who enjoy a little companion planting. Looks more like a fried egg to me, a whole pan of them. I’m suddenly feeling rather peckish ………..

I love them and you are right about the hoverflies but I am still waiting to get them established here. They flourish for my mother in Bucks with her mixture of clay, chalk and flint.

I have sowed my first ones and they have popped up so just waiting from to grow now, they do look wonderful

For some reason mine have come up without the yellow yolk this year. Not a good look at all.

How very odd, perhaps you could market them as yolk flowers ….? Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. 🙂

And next to them, I now have pure white ones, they look as if someone has come along and separated the yolk from the whites.
