Yesterday was tough. I made it til 2.30 and the threw in my trowel. This Catananche caerulea, Cupid’s Dart, was still looking cool, blue and refined in the post 30C temperatures. I, however, was red, blotchy and sweaty. I thought a photo of the flower would be preferable.
You are a star for making it that long. Thank you for sharing such a refreshing blue flower, cooler tomorrow we hope!

Yes, much cooler tomorrow thank goodness, I really would have to think of a change of career if it was like this for many months.

But you were out in the midday sun? I forgot, you’re English! 🙂 I did an early morning stint, packed in around 10am and started again at about 7pm. Too hot to sleep. Surprising what you can see to get done using workshop lamps.

Very sensible! Hopefully we will be a little bit more “normal” tomorrow and you can get all you billions safely planted out.

Phew me too. We were setting out a thousand lavender, Rosemary and salvia for a new garden. Luckily, we had a cloudy day, with a nice breeze. Mum didn’t get it 25 miles away. Today, we are back to scorching, and still more plants to set out. Happy longest-day-of-the year to you xxx

And to you me dear! The sun lotion folk must be rubbing their hands in glee, I must have got through a bottle on my own in the last few days. 🙂

Searching for the insect bite spray. Been got at by the mosquitoes. Nasty bites all swollen and red on my neck and arm. The things we suffer, being gardeners! Sigh. x

Yuk! I’m not usually too tasty for the little critters but I did get got by the midges the other day. On my gardener’s gap. Very itchy.

Smothered in anti midge oil today. Oilier than a sea lion, but it works. 🙂 x

When you are working for someone it is hard to say, “enough now”, luckily all my clients are sensible and kind, but you do want to do your best for them. x

You did well; I usually try to do most jobs before 10am, after that it is far too hot!

Good plan, hopefully tomorrow will be a day to celebrate the sun and not curse it!

It is too hot for work, but very nice for idling. And the evenings are heavenly.

Very true, not working weather. A good excuse for taking it easy. I will have to wait another couple of days. 🙂

Sorry for you; what happened with the British cool, rainy summer weather?

I know, crazy isn’t it?! Once the kids have broken up from school for the summer the rain will begin. That is the usual. 🙂
