Yes, you are correct. It is a lavender that I have never seen before; perhaps Swiss lavender. Lavender is the ‘laundry’ herb. I grew geraniums (pelargoniums) next to my laundry yard so that the breeze would blow the sheets and quilts up against them.
It is a little beauty! One of a mixed bunch that are all quite strong and of good colour. Your laundry yard sounds very romantic, except I suspect for those actually doing the laundry. Hope the sun shines for you.
Lovely colour but I see there’s no point in asking for the variety name 😦 I now have no lavender in the ground. First I cut, then decided to remove all six plants. But I have babies growing up in the greenhouse; so far 33 out of 36 are doing fine. I may have overdone it a bit! 🙂
It is a stunner. I am guessing they were all seedlings as they came mail order as a job lot and are all slightly different. One worth propagating though!

Good success rate! These are in a very sunny well drained spot so should be OK. Famous last words!!!!
