An out of focus cosmos, symbolising the confusion and instability of life. A backdrop of steely scaffolding representing the hard, harsh realities of life.
Yep, the roof is still leaking. After all those promises. Again.

What? After the work is done? #*%%@&, you’ll have to have them back.

Yes, after “that has definitely solved the problem”. They have come back and done something and now “that has definitely solved the problem”. Humph!

How wretched, seems water can find it’s way in whatever is done, we have a similar situation here, about to try for a third time to get it fixed!

Well good luck to you, hope they solve it this time.

Oh [expletive deleted]! I hope the work is covered by some sort of warranty and that the builder will fix it at no more cost to you.

I am generally good cop as OH is a more natural choice for the role as deranged psychopathic cop. I am being sorely tried though.

The situation here is confusing. Whereas it was leaking and we didn’t know why, now it isn’t leaking and we don’t know why.

Was it leaking during the colder months but stopped leaking during the warmer months? There may be a gap/leak that only exists when material contracts in response to colder temperatures. Just a thought.

We thought it had been fixed, but we had to wait out the summer to really know for sure. In September, we had the first rain and it leaked. The roofer came and did a bunch of things, but he didn’t think he had found the source of the leak. However, we’ve had several downpours since then and it hasn’t leaked. Your suggestion makes sense to me, but now we will likely have to wait for more rain and see what happens. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

How funny! Better the not leaking options though. Lots of rain due here from Thursday evening onwards, we will see what happens ……

Good luck Gill. These things are sent to try us. And so they do. At least you won’t have long to wait to put the new repair to the test. Sit on the invoice!

You have my sympathy, we are looking at a third shower replacement in five years, the last one only 18 months ago. Plumber, “ I have never known a shower tray crack before “!

A tip: Make sure he sets the new one in 1 to 2 inches of regular mortar rather than in thinset. But if it’s a prefab shower tray the manufacturer’s specs may say that using mortar OR thinset voids the warranty.

Ah, the dichotomy of water: So essential for life and health, and yet so destructive when it ends up in the wrong place! During the current exterior renovation it was discovered that when the roofer installed the new roof & gutters last December they nailed one section on TOP of the drip edge instead of underneath it. Thus 10 months of precipitation has been going into the wall instead of the gutter. It wasn’t noticed because that same gutter also receives water from a second section of roof. Rotten wood sheathing needed replacement now as part of the siding job.
