We are home again after last weekend’s exploits. This week has been busy catching up with work and stuff “that can wait until we get back”. The back boiler was overflowing. Today is ear marked for potting on and general garden pottering and peering. For more tales of horti joys and woes, pop over to Jim at Garden Ruminations and take your fill.

Hands up whose got an allium in this week’s SoS! Its not a bad gang to be in.

This little geranium came from Welsh Ann. I wasn’t sure what colour it would be and nor was she. I’m wondering if it is Kashmir White. Whatever its name, I’m very pleased.

Last week I was lamenting the pathetic display of this little generic evergreen azalea, labelled “pink”. It goes to show a few words of encouragement can make all the difference.

I bought this Cestrum x cultum ‘Cretan Pink’ last year from a local nursery. I’m not sure about the colour, a bit insipid. The cat isn’t looking too impressed either.

I had a few of these candelabra primula and one of the two survivors is this deep pink beauty. It, undoubtedly, has a proper name which, undoubtedly, is somewhere out there.

My last offering today is Semiaquilegia adoxoides semi-double pink, well that was what was on the seed packet. Do I care it has gone a little off piste? Not at all.
All done, another six, another Saturday. Next SoS I’ve pencilled in the subject of “constant watering”. Have a great week.
I really like the photo of the Cestrum with the cat in the background. It made me smile. Pretty geranium too, you’ll see I added one to my Six this week.

You got a few with off colors. It could have been a theme.
I got no Allium this week. Sorry.

You can still be in the gang, Tony.

I used to have a similar coloured azalea, it was called βWombatβ. Sadly it didnβt flourish after a vine weevil attack.
Do you have Aquilegia alpina? That is the most gorgeous blue and happily self seeds. Happy gardening π

Oh dear, I hope my little one doesn’t succumb. I love the name Wombat. We grew A. alpina at Cliffe, I remember it was a fabulous colour, might try it again now you have reminded me. Just hung the washing out, its a miracle I made it back in, such a beautiful morning out there!

Yes, waving hand for an Allium! I love the white Aquilegia, even if it was supposed to be another colour.

No alliums from me this week (maybe next week!) but I’d be very happy to have that geranium, it’s a real beauty.

It is a little beauty, I do like a bit of white in the garden, seems to set everything else off. Look forward to the alliums!

I agree, I’ve come to appreciate white over the last year or two and have added it here and there.

Your words:
Made me smile. I have lost count of the times I have planted seeds and they were not as picture on the packet.
But a good six this week. π

Yes I’ve got ornamental allium. They’re not flowering yet. I planted them in the autumn in all sorts of random places and forgot about them so they’ve come as a nice surprise! Ps I also have edible π°

Love the Allium in your first photo: Mine haven’t bloomed yet, but when they do, it’s a special time in the garden. I wasn’t familiar with that Semiaquilegia adoxoides. It’s a beauty! Happy SOS!

They are the best inbetweenies. And yes, I am very pleased with the semiaquilegia, the name is a bit of a mouthful though!

Your imposter for Semiaquilegia adoxoides is a stunner, I do hope it is fertile and seeds around.

That would be nice, fingers crossed!

Yes, I have several alliums. The geranium is a Kashmir White, which is just about to flower, in fact I think I have another 3 ready for the Carnival plant sale which haven’t flowered yet. Hope the Semiaquilegia self seeds, you might have a queue outside your door if it does!

I love the white geranium with the pink veins, so delicate. I had a similar white one, but it was one of those plants that obviously wasn’t in the ‘right’ place. Luckily Derrick Cook is happy where he is. I do actually have one purple allium flowering, but not featured in my post this week. So much to choose from!

another hand up for allium! I will also be joining you for the constant watering post!

I love the illuminated floral lanterns in your header pic – is that a Solomon’s Seal? My Alliums are on the cusp of exploding!

One of my rejects this week was a hybrid of Semiaquilegia ecalcarata with common or garden Aquilegia. Could be they’re a bit loose with who they get off with. It’s a damn fine plant and perhaps better than either parent. Polygonatum as per your header was another that didn’t make it.

I don’t think I have ever seen the last three. Is the Cretan Pink fragrant?

Alliums just opening here in Devon, maybe photograph them for next week. I have G Kashmir White, it does spread, I think by underground runners!
