It is in the same family and it does that thing too! Apparently it is known as the “Sleeping Tree” in Japan and “Night Sleeper” in Iran because of the way the leaves fold at night.
I love this tree. Believe it or not, there are specimens thriving in locations where the winters are very similar with the ones in Canada; I hope one day I can collect seeds from one of those hardy adapted trees.

This is quite unique. The foliage reminds me of sensitive plant (Mimosa pudica)–the one that folds up when you stroke it.
