I’ve not had the best day.
Yesterday we had a family get together and second Christmas. Unfortunately, OH is not very well and stayed at home eating medicinal mini cheddars and drinking Irn Bru. Don’t worry, I told him, it’s only one night and I’ll be home before you know it. Sniff, he said.
It was a lovely day full of much fun and laughter. Later Peggy and I decamped back to her house to watch The Christmas Repair Shop and drink tea. All was still ticketyboo.
This morning I awoke to find an email from Jim with his Six on Saturday post. I really had a shock, how did all those days drift away without me noticing?
After a morning of farewells, hoovering and a little gardening, I set to return to the poorly person. Except my car wouldn’t start. Again. My attempt was foiled.
The Green Flag man jump started the car and I drove it around to my BBBs (best big brother) house where it is now charging. Tomorrow, hopefully, I will get a new battery installed and I will get home safe and sound.
In the meantime, it’s another night at Mum’s and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the morning. I went for a walk around the village to stretch my legs and calm my spirits and visit the local shop for supplies. I stood for a moment at the duck pond and a flash of blue crossed my sight. A kingfisher! How wonderful!

Oh wow.. a kingfisher.. I’d like to see one of those in the wild someday, but I heard they are very elusive!

I waited for a while for it to come back, but no show. I was lucky on a seemingly unlucky day. 😊

How wonderful to see a kingfisher. I’ve never been that lucky. Hope OH feels better soon and you make it home! Chicken soup is good!

I hope you get to go home tomorrow. Irn Bru and mini cheddars is an interesting take on my go to feeling poorly sustenance of Lucozade and rich tea biscuits – something we were always given as children when feeling sick. My wife bought some rectangular rich tea fingers rather than the round lot when I was ill once and they just weren’t the same!

Yes, lucozade would probably have been a better option, but it was all we had. No rich teas either just a box of M&S Belgain chocolate biscuits which I notice in my absence has been extensively sampled for their health giving properties. Rectangular rich tea? Has the world gone mad?

Oh Golden Boots, what a way to finish Christmas festivities. My sympathies to OH and I hope he’s better soon. As for your car, did you leave it off your pressie list?
I’m going to send you a philosophical video to put it all in perspective. Remember It Is What It Is and you did get to see a rare glimpse of a kingfisher.
Love and hugs to OH and you, 😘

You did get here, I don’t know why WP had a funny turn. Thank you. On my pressie list was a chauffeuse, know anyone?

Well that’s a surprise as WordPress locked me out despite three password resets! I was getting a tad annoyed.
I will happily be your chauffeuse, we picked up a new car yesterday, well it’s an ex demo so nearly new. Knowing your great interest in cars you only need to know it’s pale blue and is fairly zippy 😊🏎️😘

It’s refreshing to hear that others have less-than-perfect days like I do sometimes. I hope your days improve in the week ahead. Kingfishers are beautiful birds, aren’t they? Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Thank you Beth, I got home eventually, although 1.5 days later than I had imagined and little poorer. The kingfisher definitely made it all seem a less painful.

Giggling over the translation..orange soda and ticketyboo! I thought OH was drinking beer. Oh well. I love the landscape photo, what are the trees?

Irn Bru is absolutely disgusting, I would not recommend it. OH like it, very odd. It has a bit of a cult following, especially in Scotland. I am not sure what the trees are, I suppose I should. They have their feet in water all winter, so possibly alder.

I often think that the real wonder of Christmas is that we completely forget what day it is. A bit like a 7 day long weekend.
How’s OH doing? Did the Iron Bru work it’s magic?
