Why is this called a Toad Lily, when it looks like a wonderful hat?

Apparently it is called “Toad” because of its toad-like marking. I agree it is not a very glamorous name for such a beautiful flower!

It is lovely. Some of them disappoint with tiny flowers but I like this one.
