This is Menziesia ciliicalyx var. multiflora photographed last May in the wonderful garden at Andrew’s Corner. I had never heard of it then, I haven’t seen it since. My job is a continual education and most days I am reminded just how ignorant I am. I was quite taken with this ericaceous beauty. The name, however, needs a little work.
This is one I never heard of either (when I google it, I got the name as Menziesia though 😉
Very special and from the same places where Glaucidium palmatum grows.Hmm…

Yes and they were in a variety of shades of mauve, this dark one was my favourite.

Gorgeous, but impossible for me so I won’ t bother learning it. The leaves look a little like Azalea leaves, are they related?

Yes, its synonym is Rhododendron benhallii I believe.

Well that’s a bit easier to remember. I remember seeing it at Bodnant last year. Beautiful.
