This agapanthus has confirmed its intention to flower, now it is not a matter of “if” but of “when”. Looking beautiful in its lilac infused casing, I can wait until the time is right, in fact the anticipation enhances the experience. Each day I will check for fault lines and the bulgings of the eager blooms, until one evening I will come home to find a fully formed sphere of indigo. That is how it works, it won’t be hurried, I won’t be impatient. Possibly. I will try very hard anyway.
Please send us a picture of the flower as well.I adore agapanthus and will have to replace mine ,four big pots full, due to very severe woolly aphids and a virus.i think it is because I delayed splitting them
I love your photos ,though words are good too.

I have had both woolly aphids and that virus that makes the leaves go a bit stripey. They can be sprayed and they will recover completely, so don’t give up.

They look wonderful at this stage don’t they? I always think they look a bit like snakes being charmed out of the foliage.

Looking very leafy. I’ve just been watering her. She seems happy in her dark corner.

No, I keep re-following you as WordPress keeps dumping me off. Very odd. As if I would 🙂

How exciting. Is this one of your own babies? One of my Agapanthus children is going to bloom for the first time this year, the anticipation is building up. I have 21 other youngsters which look as if they are waiting until next year to make their debut.

It is a seedling from Cliffe, it has flowered before and is a nice one. Look forward to seeing your baby in flower!

This is such a beautiful plant. The seeds you sent me have produced seedlings, but it will be quite awhile before I see them flower. The next painting I do (if I can ever find the time) is going to be Agapanthus. I’m going to send away for some of the white flowered ones, too. 🙂

That’s a very nice, fat bud! Agapanthus looks very exotic in the gardens here; there are a few which are fully hardy.

Agapanthus is such a tease. I swear there is an Agapanthus ploy to make us watch them obsessively for ages, then the minute we have a busy weekend and our backs are turned, they sneakily unfurl. Worth the wait, though.

You are probably right, I am away this weekend so it may well be planning a sneaky blooming!
