For various reasons, I haven’t been to Bill and Ben’s garden since the beginning of the summer. It was nice to be back. It was also lovely to see Penstemon ‘Pensham Plum Jerkum’ looking quite beautiful.

My Plum Jerkum is a deep dark plum colour, not the lovely mauve shade of the one in your photo. I’m not complaining, I still love mine!

Just googled and they do seem to be very variable, something got stuck in the mix somewhere I think! I am growing to love penstemon more and more, they are such good doers, and so beautiful!

Having been out and about in my garden between the showers (squalls!!!) your penstemon looks more like my ‘Alice Hindley’. Was yours grown from seed?

I am sorry to miss your posts.
This one, although a fancy cultivar, resembles a species that is native to the Siskiyous. I see only the color here. Our native species are not exactly pretty in a garden.
