This morning, more than any day throughout this wretched pandemic, I really needed a hug. Far more importantly, I desperately needed to hug someone. But I am not allowed to hug that person. Although a fleeting physical closeness wouldn’t have fixed anything or anyone, it might have helped us both just a little. Such cruelty. It has left me feeling helpless and hopeless as it was all I had to offer.
This Salvia leucantha ‘Midnight’ is as close to a floral cuddle as I can muster. It is the best I can do.
Yes, I do so miss the cuddles with my lovely children. However, we had a surprise when our great big son appeared at our house this morning having taken a “slight” detour after picking up some machinery for his work. We may not have had a cuddle, but half an hour sitting chatting on the patio (at a correct social distance) was a wonderful tonic for GGHI and for me. Look after yourselves. 🤗

When this pandemic is over we will enjoy a surfeit of hugs with all our loved ones, until then it is a thought to hold on to, it will help see us through.

Know the feeling. It’s really rough. I’m sure your flowers will help in the mean time. Hang on in there. We’ll get through it somehow.

Lovely furry flowers. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, hang in there. I do agree tho’ it has been absolutely wretched and at times I have felt very low in the vibes dept. Thinking of you.

Does this mean what I think it does? Love those furry salvias, is this yours?

No, nothing to do with the house. And no, the salvia is not mine, but I do have one. It is lush!

Is that what you thought?

No. Not the house. Covid? When you said you couldn’t hug, I thought maybe you or your hubby.

Sending you warm thoughts. It is so hard. Nice picture though.

I am sorry you couldn’t have the hug, but you chose a beautiful, tactile floral cuddle. It’s a great colour too.

What a lovely soft furry cuddle that would be. Sending virtual hugs to you and I really hope that you’re able to cuddle that particular
someone soon. Xxxx

I’m sorry it’s so hard for you in the UK. The salvia is a perfect choice for fuzziness and warmth…like an angora jumper. Sending you virtual hugs from Mudgee.

There’s a strong temptation in most of us, I suspect, to say to hell with it. I’m going to hug/shake hands/bust up all the rules. A hug is such a basic human need for the receiver and the giver. Yet, most of us sacrifice this for the greater good.
I blew my mam a kiss for her birthday today but she doesn’t really understand why.

If I could, I would send a picture of Rhody. He is better than Mexican bush sage. You can find his picture online if necessary.

I love salvia leucantha in all their varieties & colours and your photos are soo good. Delicious. We miss hugging the little ones but their parents send us recordings & skype. Martin has moved on from cooking blinis to making crumpets. Food is good. Eating is better. Camellia ‘Showgirl’ glows through the gloom. Sue @ Sam Shrubs.
