Yet again there are some splendid floral displays in the our little seaside town. This bed was particularly striking with its marigolds, verbena, cordyline and kale. Yes kale. And why the devil not?

We are seeing more of these mixed veggie/flower beds around town. Many vegetables are beautiful in their own right–worthy of painting, even.

I first saw kale used in a floral setting in Seattle many years ago. It really adds a nice quality.

I sent message to the council the other day saying I was very disappointed they were mowing the verges when they were in full flower. No reply. 😦
