Mad Dogs and Gardeners

Catanache

Yesterday was tough.  I made it til 2.30 and the threw in my trowel.  This Catananche caerulea, Cupid’s Dart, was still looking cool, blue and refined in the post 30C temperatures.  I, however, was red, blotchy and sweaty.  I thought a photo of the flower would be preferable.

  1. But you were out in the midday sun? I forgot, you’re English! 🙂 I did an early morning stint, packed in around 10am and started again at about 7pm. Too hot to sleep. Surprising what you can see to get done using workshop lamps.

  2. Phew me too. We were setting out a thousand lavender, Rosemary and salvia for a new garden. Luckily, we had a cloudy day, with a nice breeze. Mum didn’t get it 25 miles away. Today, we are back to scorching, and still more plants to set out. Happy longest-day-of-the year to you xxx

      1. Searching for the insect bite spray. Been got at by the mosquitoes. Nasty bites all swollen and red on my neck and arm. The things we suffer, being gardeners! Sigh. x
