One of the many problems I have come across whilst culling and cataloguing my photos (apart from general inertia, irresistible diversions, mind numbing tedium and chronic indecision) is that sometimes I can’t remember what the subject is. I look at a flower or a tree or a shrub and I think “face looks familiar butContinue reading “Problems”

Request Stop
Your wish is my command Mrs D – here is Cirsium rivulare for your delectation. So pleased I have sorted and labelled hundreds and thousands and millions of photos over the last few weeks, made it so easy to find!
Hanker
My hanker for gardening has increased tenfold, I am beginning to pace the floor. The seed delivery salved the itch a little, but I need more exercise and fresh air and company to be happy. The weather has been so dreadful that I haven’t even been able to get outside into our own desolate plot. Continue reading “Hanker”
Wrong and Right
Today I went to Nancy Nightingale’s for a singing lesson. Unfortunately I am booked in for tomorrow. The wrong day. Embarrassing. It has happened before. So without pause, ostensibly to divert attention away from my stupidity and inability to read a diary, I am going to share a picture of Cephalaria gigantea. Definitely one hundred percentContinue reading “Wrong and Right”
Seed glorious seed
For those of you not in the know, the Hardy Plant Society is an organisation that promotes and protects hardy plants. Perhaps you had worked that much out. Each year a selection of its generous and knowledgeable members donate seed which is distributed amongst us locusts. After hearing that our Six on Saturday leader The Propagator receivedContinue reading “Seed glorious seed”
Featuring: Mr and Mrs Bun
Here is one of my favourite corners of Mr and Mrs Bun’s garden and this photo was taken in August 2016. The steps lead down towards Garden Room, bypassing the top section of the garden. The soil here is typical builder’s residue. This detritus is so prevalent these days that I think the powers thatContinue reading “Featuring: Mr and Mrs Bun”
Bliss
When I was visiting the hairdressers the other day (no, contrary to appearances I don’t cut it myself with blunt Felcos) a conversation ensued about reading. It went something like this: Other customer to her stylist (she was having sun-kissed highlights so in for the long haul): “No I don’t need a magazine thank you,Continue reading “Bliss”
A meadow of snakes
The hail is flamenco-ing on the velux and I am remembering happy days. This photo was taken at the very end of March 2016 at Holbrook Garden. I was visiting this wild and wonderful garden with the grand dame of Little Ash, Helen. A meadow of Fritillaria meleagris, the snake’s head fritillary, was particularly spectacular, with itsContinue reading “A meadow of snakes”
Shark Attack
It didn’t take me long to realise that when you visit Nancy Nightingale you have to be prepared for all eventualities. Even a shark. Luckily this one was only 20cm long and quite friendly.
Still Counting
I have fallen a little behind with my photograph sorting/deleting/labelling/archiving/tedium. Excuses, I have a few, but then again, too few to mention. Here is another picture, a slightly nibbled abutilon, just to show that I am making a pathetic effort. It was taken this time-ish last year on a visit to Knightshayes with the lovelyContinue reading “Still Counting”
